Prof. Wim van der Hoek award 2011

The Wim van der Hoek award will be awarded to promote and stimulate precision mechanics and the design of mechanical structures. The award will be given to the best graduation work. The award is named after the emeritus professor Wim van der Hoek, who founded the unique Dutch method for design of precision machinery, at the Technical University of Eindhoven. (1962-1985).

The Wim van der Hoek Award 2011 was rewarded to Alexander Mulder, for his graduation work: “Design of 6-DOF Miniature Maglev Positioning Stage for Application in Haptic Micromanipulation”. The jury liked that Alexander Mulder demonstrated the capacity to distinguish between the essential and the ancillary. He also showed a good attention to the requirements, and thorough mechatronic analysis.

Jos Gunsing handed the price out at the precision fair in Veldhoven on December 1st 2011.

ir. A. Davidson award 2011

The ir. A. Davidson Award will be awarded to a young precision engineer active in precision engineering around 5 to 10 years. Who with a few years of experience within a company or institute and already got big achievements internal and external.

The ir. A. Davidson Award 2011 was rewarded to dr.ir. Edwin Bos, director and founder of Xpress Precision Engineering in Eindhoven. The jury described Edwin Bos as a "genuine smart technician", be able to invents good technology that can be manufactured and is applicable. He made in his PhD period improvements to a the measurement tip such that it became viable with respect to production and cost. This resulted in several patents. Also the new product TriNano measurement machine impressed the jury. Finally the jury, praised his enthusiasm and work as a chairman for YPN young precision network.

Marty van de Ven handed the price out at the Precision fair in Veldhoven on November 30th 2011.

DSPE-Conference 2012
